About the Store
Jerry Knight and E.P. Scully opened Cripple Creek Antiques in September 2004. The store name comes from an old folk song Jerry’s father would sing to him while bouncing him on his knees. The song is actually about the mine strike in Cripple Creek, Colorado in the early 1900’s.
The building, located at 24 West Potomac Street, was erected c. 1900 and originally housed Roelkey’s Store, the local grocery. Beautiful tin ceilings and antique light fixtures throughout set the proper mood for antique shopping.
Cripple Creek Antiques has a large selection of fine antique furniture. Artwork cover the walls with glassware, jewelry, pottery, books, military, political and other items in abundance.
Brunswick is near the C&O Canal and the shop is on the same block with the Railroad Museum and the C& O Canal Visitors Center. The museum features a huge, HO scale model railroad and social history gallery, which tells of the rich transportation history of Brunswick during its heyday.
Antiques enthusiasts will find a large selection of fine antique furniture, collectibles and a plethora of glassware, jewelry, pottery and fine art. A full library with hundreds of used books for sale is located in the rear of the store. “Hanna’s Sewing Room” is a display in the library depicting life in the late 1800's.
